When scheduling routine heating maintenance each year, most homeowners don’t anticipate the technician finding a serious problem that needs to be addressed. Fortunately for Ouzelfalls, a longtime customer in northern Illinois, the technician inspecting her furnace discovered a serious issue that could be fixed before it resulted in a potentially deadly situation.
The technician had noticed that the secondary heat exchanger inside the furnace had failed, causing a combustion “back-up.” The back-up resulted in scorch marks on one of the furnace’s burners. If left as-is, this problem would potentially have continued to worsen every time the furnace cycled on, eventually leading to a fire.
“The tech that initially found the problems did a thorough job of cleaning the furnace and diagnosing the issue. He provided clear options for either a warranty repair or replacement of my existing furnace.” Ouzelfalls said. She opted for the repair using her Heating Repair warranty plan from Oncourse Home Solutions.
“A tech called to schedule the repairs. [The tech] completely disassembled the furnace, replaced the primary and (3) secondary heat exchangers, and three burners at no cost to me,” she continued to say.
Ouzelfalls went on to say, “I couldn’t be happier with the results and the work both techs did to fix a BIG problem!” when discussing the service performed in her home.
