Why Tune-Ups for Furnaces are So Important

When it comes to making sure that your family is warm and cozy this season, it will be important for you to make sure that your furnace/boiler is working like it should. This is why annual furnace/boiler tune-up appointments are so important.

During one of these appointments, trained professionals are able to potentially detect problems early on and get them taken care of before they turn into even bigger issues that may eventually result in a total breakdown of the unit. When this happens on a cold fall or winter night, your family will be the ones that have to suffer in the uncomfortable home!

Additionally, a furnace/boiler tune-up is important because of the following:

  • Adequate air flow: When there are restricted areas of air flow in your heating system, it can prevent certain rooms of your home from having warm air circulated properly through them. This could be a result of dirty or clogged filters. Be sure to replace your filter regularly and check your owner’s manual to see what size you will need. However, if this doesn’t take care of the problem, the technician at your home may recommend a repair.
  • Reduce the # of repairs needed: As mentioned above, during a tune-up, the heating and cooling technician in your home may be able to spot problems early on. When you have a heating system repair plan with us, they will be able to take care of the problem for you.
  • Improve efficiency of the unit: During the tune-up or “clean and check” appointment, the furnace or boiler’s burner and heat exchanger will be inspected and cleaned to make sure that there isn’t any build-up of dust or dirt which could be ultimately decreasing the overall efficiency of the unit.
