Catalina of Aurora, Ill., is a longtime customer of Oncourse Home Solutions (previously Pivotal Home Solutions) . When she noticed that her home didn’t feel as warm as it should, even with the furnace running, she knew there was a problem. While somebody else may have needed to find a local heating repair company to come to the house to diagnose and treat the problem, Catalina simply called us.


Catalina set up an appointment for the next day. The service technician noticed that the furnace’s blower motor had bad bearings, the circuit board and heat exchanger were both corroded, and the system overall was in terrible shape. Catalina told the technician that the furnace was over 23 years old.  


The technician advised her that it would be a good idea to get a replacement furnace installed instead of trying to repair all the issues her current one was facing. After all, her coverage and the additional cost for needed repairs would go a long way toward a brand-new system. Additionally, the technician noted that the customer’s air conditioner was around the same age as the furnace. He recommended having both systems replaced at the same time.


With her Preferred Home Protection Plan coverage, Catalina receives up to $3,000 per year ($1,500 per incident) to repair or replace her heating system, and also up to $3,000 per year ($1,500 per incident) to repair or replace her cooling system.


Catalina agreed with the technician, and an appointment time was set for the two new units’ installation. “The installation crew was phenomenal,” said this satisfied customer after the new units were installed. “Very courteous, arrived on time, and informed us of steps during the several hours of work. We are very pleased.”
