Home Warranty FAQs for New Homeowners

Congratulations on your new home! Now that you’ve settled into your new place, it’s time to think about protecting what is likely the largest investment you’ve made in your life.

A home warranty provides coverage for major systems, appliances and lines in and around your home. At Oncourse Home Solutions, we have brands in various regions in the United States. To see if a plan is available where you live, visit us online and enter your zip code into the search box at the top of the page. Our brand(s) available where you live will appear on the next page, and you will be able to click through to them to see what specific plans you are able to enroll in, as well as how much they will cost per month.

We realize that a lot of first-time homeowners have many questions about home warranties, what they cover, how much they cost, and so on. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions, as well as their answers:

What will a home warranty cover?

At Oncourse Home Solutions, we offer coverage for a wide variety of appliances, systems, and lines in and around a home. We have specific plans just for heating and cooling, as well as plans for outside water/sewer lines, inside plumbing lines, and so on.

What items will not be covered by the warranty?

We offer specific home warranties for specific systems, appliances and lines. So, for example, if you are enrolled in a heating and cooling plan, this will not cover repairs or maintenance for your sewer line. Please refer to your customer agreement to see specific coverage and limitation information.

How much does it cost?

Different plans come with different prices. You are able to check your local brand(s) to see specific pricing information. You will be billed monthly for your plan charges.

If I have homeowner’s insurance, do I still need a home warranty?

Your homeowner’s insurance doesn’t cover everything that a home warranty does. The insurance will protect your home in case it sustains damages from fires, floods, wind or other covered events. A home warranty will protect certain items from other covered damages, or may provide maintenance.

If I bought an older home, do I need to pay more for the home warranty?

No, everyone pays the same amount with a Oncourse Home Solutions home warranty. You will be billed monthly, and in many instances, the amount can be added to your utility bill for convenience.

If I have a problem with a covered system or appliance, what should I do?

You will be provided with a customer care number when you enroll. Call the number to speak with a representative. They will send a local, pre-qualified, experienced service provider who will come to your home to diagnose and treat the problem. With most plans, you will not need to worry about service fees or trip charges. Simply keep up with your monthly fees and you will be covered.

How long will I be enrolled into the home warranty plan?

Coverage is available for one year upon receipt of your first month’s payment. Renewal is automatic unless you choose to cancel. You can also choose to cancel your plan with a 30 days’ notice at any time.
